Training practice

It is very important to us that our staff are well trained and equipped with all the knowledge and skills needed to deliver a first class service. For this reason, all our staff are required to undertake a comprehensive mandatory training programme once they start employment with us.

In order to minimise disruption to patients, we close on one Wednesday afternoon per month to undergo this training the following Wednesday afternoon dates are when we are closed.
18th September 2024
16th October 2024
20th November 2024
26th February 2024
19th March 2024

GP net earnings

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GP working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GP’s working in Glovers Lane Surgery in the 2022/2023 financial year was £53396.00 before tax and national insurance. This is for 7 part time GP’s.

It should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in practice (for example, a doctor working 1/2 day per week counts the same as a full time doctor) and correspondingly practices that have many part time doctors or high locum use will typically calculate a lower figure than a practice with many full time doctors. Consequently, this information should not be used to form any judgement about actual GP earnings or to make any comparison with any other practice.
